Anti-vandal overclad at signal c861
A rusted trackside cabinet at signal c861 was left in place and enclosed inside a SafeBox AV, restoring protection without touching a single cable.

The brief
The cabinet at signal c861 was structurally sound inside but had lost its shell. The doors no longer closed on their frames and were being held shut with a strap, leaving the equipment exposed to weather and to anyone who wanted access. Replacing the cabinet outright would have meant disconnecting a working installation.
What we did
Rather than replace it, we enclosed it. The SafeBox AV module was measured to the existing cabinet, prefabricated, and assembled over it on site, so the original enclosure and all of its wiring stayed exactly where they were.
- Measured survey of the existing cabinet and the ground around it.
- Hot-dip galvanised welded structure prefabricated to suit, C5M finish.
- Assembly over the cabinet in place, equipment live throughout.
- Four-point locking fitted, identification plate transferred, site cleared.
The result
A cabinet that could not be closed is now behind 2.5 mm galvanised panels, a 4-point lock on Ø25 mm hardened bars and concealed hinges, with nothing accessible from the outside. The work took four hours and nothing was disconnected.
