The brief
The signalling point had reached the end of its enclosure life. Corrosion had opened the panel joints, moisture was reaching the rack, and the summer temperature inside was well outside what the equipment was specified for. The constraint was simple: no interruption to circulation, and no rewiring of the installation inside.
What we did
We surveyed the point, confirmed the existing slab could be reused, and prefabricated a double-width SafeBox RT to the measured footprint. On the day, the enclosure was assembled panel by panel around the live equipment.
- Site survey and dimensional check against the existing base.
- Marine-grade aluminium panels prefabricated to the measured footprint.
- Assembly around live equipment, with the rack left untouched.
- MT08045-compliant sealing at every cable entry, then handover.
The result
The point was handed back the same shift, sealed to IP65 and passively thermoregulated with no external power. The equipment inside was never disconnected and no train was delayed.
